I can’t believe it ! I just recieved an email from CawaHarli’s new family. My heart was/is overjoyed right . I haven’t written on this blog pay in quite awhile. Here’s an update. I am proud to tell you that I’m the proud owner of Cawa’s mom Hats off Harli ! Harli became available for adoption last Sept. Needless to say when my husband told me that Harli was in the kennel, I jumped in my car and drove over to the kennel. She is all mine now. Harli was a great racer ! 13 in a row @ Wonderlandgreyhound park. She as ran at LincolnPark in R.I.. Harli went on to be a “brood bitch”/mommy. She had 3 litters during her mommy years. Harli and I share such a special bond. I used to rub her out (message) , after she raced . I’d look at her and say, “if I ever adopt a greyhound, it would be you”. Harli is 9 yrs. old, an in greyt health. Thank you

Wow, it’s so sad to go to the compound and see only 14 , woof…yup 14 fellow racers. ! Seems like just yesterday the kennel was full of my buds. Now, sad to say, most of them have moved to other tracks and the others { who could of raced longer} got put up for adoption. { Sad Note/Fact….. even though Grey2kusa/protectdogs say they save greyhounds, they don’ t}. Our kennel, nor any other Massachusetts Kennel that race greyhounds recieved ANY help with adoption from Grey2kusa/Protectdogs

The back deck stairs are’t a problem now. Believe me I can go up and down them, yet my Human Mom still holds my collar when going up and down in slick weather… hey I never knew wood would get slippery when wet, crap I didn’t even know what wood was. Bark out loud…… I still wonder what is beyound the 2nd floor stairs , I still don’t want to attempt them, yet I do wonder where the humans go when they go up them. That’s a future blog… My heart still longs for the sound of “Swifty” and the thrill of the chase…

21 days living in “my” new home. I’m really starting to get it about the up and down stairs thing. !!!! Little by little I’m learning to be a retired greyhound. I still miss my kennel buddies though. When my adopted parents come home from being either with my fellow racers or even when my “Human Mom” comes home from dogwalking… I know that their with fellow dogs… I can smell these dogs on them. My heart aches for my human friends…they truely do have a love for all dogs. I listen to what they say about my fellow racers and it makes my heart break……greyhound racing is now banned in Mass. ….. Say What? Yes you heard me right, Greyhound Racing was Voted out by a ballot question in Mass. How can this be? Grey2kusa tells people we are beaten, straved,abused by our handlers/owners….. This group made my human friends out to be abusers!How can this be? I , nor any of my fellow racers have any cases pending towards humans that abused us. Nor do we, { greyhounds},{retired or otherwise}, have any proof that ANY one from Grey2kusa has helped “save” us !!!! Please… ok ..Christine does have one adopted greyhound of her own…she adopted her retired greyhound just like any other human does…through a greyhound adoption program ! Oh wait…!!!!! She will tell you that she” resued” a greyhound…. funny huh? How do you resue a dog that has protection from being euthanized in Mass.?

Wow day 13 at my new home. It’s so strange this Human world! There are so many new things to see and do. I wish I could chase Swifty one more time !!!! I still like eating my food in my crate and I like sleeping in it too! Hey did I tell you my new “Family” brought home some pictures’ of “my” family. Yup, I got to see pictures of,{ just to name a few}, Famous Harli, Dark Line, ATZ Harli and Gracious Harli. I’m so happy their all alive and well. I wouldn’t want them to go through what my baby Cawa Harli has gone through. She was used as an ” example” for our opponents. Yes my little girl did take a tumble during the race and to the human eye it looked serious. I think it’s a sure bet that many folks donated to the Grey2kusa after watching it. What gets my tail is, how or why is it legal that Grey2kusa doesn’t have to update their information as to the well being of greyhounds they “use” as examples of cruelty. As with any sport, injuries do happen. It’s a fact. Yet it’s a fact unjustly used for fundraising in my sport. You see a video of one of my babies falling…you send money.. yet your never given an update as to how your money helped my fellow greyhounds. Don’t you think you should ask? Just a thought…

Day 10 at my new home

Wow when I read some of the old blog comments I wanted to either wag my tail or bark back at people. Some comments are postive others are down right nasty ! The way my eyes see it, I’m 8 years old, had a GREAT racing career, { not that I’m bragging } wol..= {woof out loud}. I retired from racing and went on to being a Mom. When I finally came up for adoption one of my past kennel workers adopted me ! Now I’m living large ! I have my own doghouse and a new buddy named Max. We shared a large fenced in dogpen with plently of sand and room to move. We both get to share the big house the Human’s live in. Nice huh… Oh did I tell you that I took a dip in the built in pool….{I don’t think I want to go in there again!}. My human friends are showing me how to go up and down stairs and how to walk on Tile floors. I’m glad these humans know that I’ve never experienced these triva everyday things most dogs know. What really makes me happy is they never look at me as an abused retired racer…they know my fears are real to me because like a newborn pup…this is all new to me. I’ll keep posting my progress as the days go by……

We love to run and although most would have you think otherwise, we’re here to set “our” records straight! Any human that wants to dispute us, please feel free to comment back. “For anyone that thinks these dogs are forced to run after a lure please take a look at the following photographs I took during the greyhound adoption expo. All the dogs in these pictures are retired hounds, now adopted. All of them ran without a lure or any incentive at the finish line. All of them look really happy doing what they are doing. Is it me or does every site that Grey2kusa, Carey Theil starts up…….always asks for money!!!!!!!! Has anyone out there asked where the money goes? I know it doesn’t go to adopting out my babies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
